The wall itself is a really intriguing part of history. Unfortunately, like SO MANY places, it's FAR too commercialised, and every time you visit a section, you can say goodbye to thirty pounds, or thereabouts. If you want to spend a week up there, well you'd better have deep pockets!! One other place like this is the West Highland Way.Once a joy to walk and stay, now you are just a cash cow, ripe to be milked. I love the history of these monuments and structures, but I HATE the way visitors are ripped off.

Have visited Bamburgh regularly these past 50 years and have never tired of visiting. Our children played happily at the stag rocks and Bamburgh has become part of their children's lives bringing with them friends from the Midlands and Scottish Borders.
